Christantus Uche Fuels Comfortable Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their first-ever continental campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Without star figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a commanding win that all but secures them a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

Another victory in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be enough to seal direct entry to the knockout stages, especially after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity

This match provided a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second game in match.

A Shelbourne team that had concluded their league season proved no match against a largely rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were further depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

Dominance Established from the Start

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple finish.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close soon after, fizzing a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the referee dismissed the appeals.

The formerArsenal man did not have wait long to find his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's effort had struck the post.

Shelbourne were hanging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for a couple of agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Game

The contest was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
